The Residence of Great Amusement

The Residence of Great Amusement, designed by Wei-Chun Lin, stands out with its unique approach to interior design. The client's youthful and extroverted personality served as the inspiration for creating a bright and soothing atmosphere. Unlike traditional design styles, the public area of the residence features white wooden floors, which, when combined with a green carpet in the living room, create the feeling of lounging on a sunny grassy field.

One of the standout features of this design is the attention to detail. The designer deliberately created a minute height difference between the floors in the living room and the entranceway. This not only separates the inner and outer spaces but also helps collect dust, ensuring a clean and tidy environment. The ceiling and staircase windows flood the indoor space with natural daylight, creating a vivid yet gentle ambiance. Without stepping outside, the client can appreciate the beauty of the blue sky within the residence.

The realization of this design involved the use of innovative technology. Behind the couch, a specially designed double-sided cabinet serves as both a storage solution and a visual focal point. The geometric framework of the cabinet creates a striking contrast by incorporating square yellow storage cases within a black plate framework. This design choice not only adds drama to the space but also provides ample storage. The cabinet functions like a Lego set, stimulating the imagination of both adults and children.

The Residence of Great Amusement spans 270 square meters, providing ample space for the client's lifestyle. The design team, led by Wei-Chun Lin, carefully considered the technical specifications to ensure that every aspect of the design was executed flawlessly.

In terms of functionality, the design seamlessly integrates with the daily lives of the residents. The mezzanine space, filled with natural light and free from vertical space restraints, creates an atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression. Whether it's the laughter of children or the greetings among family members, time seems to stand still in this space. It has become an integral part of the family's life, fostering a sense of togetherness and happiness.

The Residence of Great Amusement is located in Taichung City, Taiwan. The project was completed within a specific timeframe, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the design team. The research conducted for this design focused on creating a space that breaks down spatial limitations and promotes a simple and straightforward style. The long rectangular bar in the space encourages group activities and visual concentration, while the appropriate decorations and contemporary style create an amicable and invigorating atmosphere.

One of the design challenges faced by the team was creating a private and secure area within the spacious bedroom. The designer successfully built a small rest room that offers comfort and delicacy, allowing the family members to sleep without worries or tensions. The uneven and tender wall surface, used as a backdrop for the TV, adds a touch of life and humanity to the pure white space. It creates a sense of care, as if parents are raising their children with love, ultimately resulting in a secure and sweet home.

Wei-Chun Lin's dedication to creating distinguished values for different individuals is evident in every aspect of this project. The Residence of Great Amusement exudes both majesty and tenderness, showcasing the designer's expertise and commitment to excellence.
